5 Plants for your Autumn Garden
Summer may be over and the chill of autumn may be upon us, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up on having a beautiful bright and full garden.
We’ve had a look at some of the best plants to give your autumn garden some fantastic colour and life.
1. Crocus
These pretty, hardy plants are perfect for colder weather. Their beautiful cup-shaped flowers are great for pots or borders. They are best placed beneath shrubs and trees to protect their delicate flowers from heavy rain.
2. Pansy
Some varieties of the pansy stop blooming when the weather gets cold. But you can get winter flowering pansies that keep flowering until late spring to add a beautiful splash of bold colour to the garden.
3. Heather
Heather is an incredibly hardy and versatile plant normally found on moors. It grows low in the garden creating a beautiful vibrant pink, white and purple blanket of wonderful texture.
4. Winter Aconite
This beautiful buttercup-like flower loves moist soil in shady parts of the garden. So pop it in a pot or a border under some trees or shrubs to brighten up darker corners of the garden with its pretty yellow petals.
5. Cyclamen
The red, pink and white of this well-loved plant will flower from autumn through to spring. They look fantastic either in pots or in a flower bed and will remain relatively unscathed through the winter weather.
